Saying goodbye to friends

Illustrations for The Telegraph accompanying an article on ending friendships: the specific difficulty of breaking up with people you've outgrown rather than wronged. The work ran as animated GIFs online and as static images in print, which meant the characters had to carry emotional weight in both a still frame and in motion. Dry, a little melancholy, and precise enough to feel true rather than illustrative.
